Barış Tunçbilek
Barış (which means "peace" in Turkish) Tunçbilek
(can better be called as "toonchblack" in
English) was born and raised in the capital city
of Turkey: Ankara. He started dj'ing in 1993 and
music production in 2000. He had played in tens
of clubs, venues and pubs previously. He also
played in national, city and university radios.
He is one of the founders of Radio Bilkent in
1994. Nowadays he works on his PhD thesis on
management and organization.
His project band "Global Anatolian Sounds"
finished their first album in 2005 and it was
realeased after a decade in 2015. In this very
special album, 17 musicians from all over the
world joined the project and tried a new
eclectic vibe.
While dj'ing; he jams soul, jazz, nu-jazz, funk,
jazz house, funk house, trip hop, downtempo,
chillout, lounge, ambient, bossa nova,tango,
samba but also rock depending on the crowd. His
musical style mostly depends on the crowd's mood
without any "new vs. Old" music debates and
"bpm" barriers.
