With Mr Ilker Kamadan’s own words:
“It was night, it was dark” is my debut album. I composed the songs in the album in EDM, Rock, Pop genres with the techniques barrowed from classical music such as harmony and counterpoint. As an example, Marika has 3 voice simultaneous vocal lines. Another point, all over the album the instruments were used equally with the vocals as in baroque music and melodies and harmony distributed evenly between these two elements. By doing so the instruments became an element of music as important as the vocal line. Liberal forms of music are also used throughout the album. There is also a composition “Battle Music”, a soundtrack that is written for classical orchestra. I believe soundtracks could be enjoyed without the accompanying video or the movies; I do not use lengthy and monotonous motifs. My music could be classified “abstract music” that is independent from the lyrics, and that does not depend on lyrics. I tell the things that could only be told with music without the inclusion of background stories or the depictions that could be associated with the music.
